The Chamber of Commerce is selling t-shirts that can be pre-ordered and picked up when you arrive in Electra. The shirts are white with red lettering outlined in black, with "Homecoming 2003 Celebrating the Fabulous Fifties." There is a dancing couple dressed in black, on a red brick oval, wearing 1950s clothing, with "Sept. 26&27, 2003, Chamber of Commerce, Electra, Texas." Pre-ordered, the prices are $12 for sizes small to 1X; 2X and larger are $13. If you purchase the shirts after you arrive in Electra, the cost increases by $3. Call the Chamber of Commerce, 940 495 3577, to pre-order.

Additionally, white T-shirts, depicting the Grand Theatre with "Now Showing, Fabulous Fifties, September 26&27" on the movie marquee. Below the marquee is a depiction of a ticket printed with "Admit One, Homecoming 2003, Electra, Texas." These T-shirts can be pre-ordered from Lasting Impressions, 940 495 3398, for $12 each, regardless of size. They may also be bought at the store when you arrive in town. The '50s reunion group will receive a percentage of the proceeds from each shirt, to contribute toward the '50s project.

Afghans, depicting historic Electra landmarks, will be available at the pre-order price of $50 through the Chamber of Commerce, at 940 495 3577.

HOMECOMING GOLF SCRAMBLE

The golf scramble is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at 9 a.m., at the Crooked Creek Golf Course, Electra. Call 940 495 3577 or 940 495 3833 for details. Make your reservations early.

HOMECOMING PARADE

The reunion float committee has planned three Fabulous Fifties floats for the parade. If you have a motorcycle and wish to ride in front as an escort, that will be good. If you have a '50s car or a car of any model that you wish to drive in the parade, call the Chamber of Commerce, 940 495 3577, and speak with Sherry Strange. She will make sure that your position in the parade is with the '50s group. If you plan to decorate your car, she will need to know if you want it to be judged in the competition.

ADDRESS BOOK

The reunion committee and Arden Warner have worked really hard, compiling all the addresses and e-mails that we could find into one book. These books will be given to class members at the dinner. If you cannot attend the dinner and would like to order a book, mail a check for $10 to Judy Smith Newman, 208 W. Wharton, Electra, TX 76360. A book will be mailed to you as long as we have books available. Please get your order in by Sept. 1, 2003.

DONATIONS AND RAFFLE TICKETS

As a means of raising money, a 7-day cruise to Cancun has been donated anonymously. It is not too late to purchase tickets or, if you are not interested in a cruise, you might want to make a monetary donation, because we would like to present a gift to the school system and the community. Contact your class representative for that information, or mail your donation to Francine Rowe, 109 W. Anderson, Electra, TX 76360.

NOMINATING AN OUTSTANDING TEACHER AND AN OUTSTANDING EX-STUDENT

People who are nominated and selected by a committee are honored at a reception Friday afternoon, again during the football game, and finally, at the parade. If you wish to nominate a classmate or a teacher, send a rsum, detailing their accomplishments and interests, to Sherry Strange, Chamber of Commerce, 112 W. Cleveland, Electra, TX 76360.

The Fabulous Fifties central meeting place will be at the Electra Activities Center (the old Paul's Market building), 400 N. Main, Electra. We hope you will take advantage of all the activities being offered by the community. Enclosed is a schedule, but it is not complete as of this date. A current schedule will be available on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, with all the reunion plans completed and listed. The Fabulous Fifties items in the schedule are complete at this time.
